If you would have told me eight years ago that I was going to end up
moving from "safe" Minnesota to Maryland and that my future husband
was going to actually be working in DC, at the White House, every day,
I would have laughed in your face. I love it here. I love how much
history is around me. I cannot imagine moving away from here.
However, on days like today, when I remember the terror I felt after
September 11, 2001, I am surprised at how much I have stepped away
from my comfort zone. Today I am thinking of all the lives lost on
9-11-01 and all the lives lost since.

This picture was taken in May by my husband.

  2. I never said what this picture was. It is the US capital building and (I think)the reflecting pool.

  5. Hehe, you are right. Sorry. I am totally drugged up today. I fell down the stairs this morning and hurt my not quite yet healed sprained ankle again, so I am on painkillers galore.

  6. I visited DC for the first time last Easter and loved it. My youngest son lives there. He was with Teach for America with Friendship Academy High School for 2 years and now is part of a team starting up a charter schol with Friendship Academy (my verbiage may be faulty here, but you get the idea). He loves DC - in high school he spent a summer as a Page and then in college was an Intern. You are so lucky to live there - so much to do!
