My guy has been using a live trap in the garden to catch raccoons and then
relocate them to another piece of property that he has (miles away). He's
been pretty successful, having trapped 5 or 6 of them this summer. However,
he has a bit of a problem in the trap right now. It's a skunk. Yes, a live
skunk in a trap that is intended to catch varmints live so they can be
released elsewhere. Now what?!
I know it's not a very good picture, but it's the best I could do with
zooming in from a very safe distance!

My grandfather had one of these and called it a cat trap. He had a way of using a board to let the skunks out.
Or, just stock up on the tomato juice and let the sucker out!
You've got yourself a bit of a pickle! Call animal control I guess. Good luck!
Approach it while holding a tarp up in front of you/him (hiding all of you behind the tarp). Put the tarp over the cage. Transport. Don't ask me how I know this :-) I didn't get sprayed either.
Same thing happened to a friend of ours, and animal control refused to come get it. After a couple of days of feeling tortured about what to do (and many "creative" ideas of how to put it out of its misery humanely without getting anyone sprayed) I think they threw some gopher pellets in its direction and let it quietly go to sleep forever. They felt terrible. :(
Hoo boy.
