Isn't it funny how some days it seems that time stands still. I hear myself
saying, "Will this day never end?" And yet, the reality is that time is
rushing past us....sweeping us along; steadily leading us to a point in our
lives when time really WILL stand still.

Yep - no need to hurry along those 'slow time' days. Better to find the patience to appreciate them.

Your photo & post remind me of two different 'They Might Be Giants' songs.

The first one is called "Older" and has a line - "You're older than you've ever been. And now you're even older."

The second one is called "Hovering Sombrero" which has the following stanza:

"Time is flying like an arrow
And the clock hands go so fast they make the wind blow
And it makes the pages of the calender go
flying out the window one by one
Til a hundred years are on the front lawn
And the old familiar things are mostly all gone
But the old sombrero just keep hovering on
Hovering sombrero hover on"

OK, it gets goofy at the end...

Additionally, your photo first caught my eye because we had a clock like that in the house where I grew up. Does it chime every 15 minutes? I loved that chiming sound, but it kept many an overnight visitor up all night...

it does chime every 15 minutes. it is about 100 years old. my husband and i bought it from a very old man who restored them for a living. with each clock he had a card printed up giving as much info as he had about it. you could tell that he loved what he did. since we've had this about 10 years...i'd be willing to bet that he's dead now. kind of sad to think of.

incidentally...for about 2 years this clock freaked my son out and we could never have it chime. now he's over it....but i forget to wind it - as i have done now since it is still stuck at 2:55.

Well no wonder it seemed like time was standing still....it's been 2:55 for days now! LOL. Love this pic. And you are so right...one day time really will stand still. So i guess I am ok if it just ticks away slowly. I got a lot of stuff I want to do!
