Moxie

On the web I’m generally known as Moxie, off I’m usually Becky, and I still
answer to my childhood nickname of Chiquita Banana. For our purposes here
I’m Moxie.

I’m from Vermont, although I spent my twenties living in Chicago, and I work
at a Cooperative grocery store as a sign maker. Since I graduated from
college drawing happy, cute vegetables is the closest I’ve come to using my
photography degree to make my living.

It wasn’t until I met my current boyfriend that I realized that if you’ve
only ever had grocery store strawberries, they can seem pretty tasty. Once
you’ve had a strawberry right from the farm though, you realize what a
strawberry tastes like. True love is a strawberry straight from the farm.

I try to be neighborly and pay things forward. I aim to be like my dad and
my grampa, the smartest, kindest people I know. My love of baking is
thwarted by my need to avoid sugar. My cat’s feet smell like fritos and I
love to smell them. I’m figuring out that a tendency towards bird watching
and gardening might actually be nature rather than nurture. On good days, I
remember to be where I am; on bad I make fretting into an art form.

I live with my boyfriend and my cat Squidwort in the house that my parents
bought to retire to in 2 years. This arrangement has brought up surprising
amounts of tension and sometimes I dream of selling my car and moving to
Rhode Island where I’m pretty sure I’d immediately regret not having a car.
