Transfusion day.
Every two weeks I am reminded that I'm kept alive by the kindness of strangers.
God Bless Blood Donors.

Hey Pam, is it getting harder and harder to match your antibodies? I'm so complex now that it takes about 3 days to find a decent match AND I have to be pre-dosed all the time to avoid transfusion reactions.

There is a guy that landed in the world book record for Most Amount of Blood ever given. He's 73, has donated over 100 times, up to a total of about 4 gallons of blood.

I'm doing okay on the antibodies - only 1 to deal with (K). So I'm able to get blood matched in about an hour. I have to be pre-dosed as well. Had a reaction to blood once - not fun.

Wow...100 times. That's awesome!

Bridget - go give blood!!!!

I had to go back and reread your profile. Bravo for your courage in the face of adversity. Your bio is fabulous - you are a go-getter with contagious optimism. Your resume is strong and interesting – just like you. xoxo

Yes, it makes me want to go out and try to donate again! Alas, the ONE thing on my body that is small is my veins....they have problems either getting a vein, or if they do, I don't bleed fast enough to fill up the bag. It sucks! (pun intended...).

My husband gives for the two of us. He's religious about it and as soon as his wait time is up, he finds a donation site and gives blood again.
