I have gone back to my roots....literally!! I had to let my hair grow out
for 12 weeks just so I could remember what my REAL hair color actually was
(so sad!) Not sure I like it this way but I have a bad habit of always
changing things. By summer i will be back to blonde Im sure....or maybe
blue...or fuchsia!!

After a MUCH needed 2 week break from the internet and doctors and the crazy
life I was living...Im back. Back to feeling almost normal...back to being
able to drink coffee (YEA!!) back to seeing friends and getting my nails
done and hair cut and sending submissions to 365..... I can almost remember
exactly who I was and where my life was heading pre-diagnosis!!! Today is a
very good day!!!

I made this moose when I was 12. He usually sits on our dresser. When I got
home today, after spending 5 FREAKIN DAYS in the hospital (islolation no
less!!) he was laying by The Boys pillow.....in BED! I asked the boy how he
got there and he stood his ground mumbling something about the 5th
amendment. He confessed 20 min later that he was missing me and it was the
closest thing he could find......awww my 47 yr old little boy!! Sometimes I
am in awe of how blessed my life is!!

In this basket I found a suuuuuper soft robe and slippers, fuzzy socks, 3
different kinds and colors of yarn and a book to teach me how to knit. My
co-workers gave it to me since I will be going into the hospital tomorrow
for a week. It was so nice of them and it helped make me feel a little less
afraid. This trip is a big deal...I will be in isolation with 10 min (max!)
visits from doctors or nurses due to the radiation. I have made it through 6
weeks of chemo and radiation......that never really had me scared.....this
does and Im trying very very hard not to let it show. Ive done a pretty good
job of it too!! I will try to submit photos from the hospital if I can...if
not I will see ya'll next week....try not to have all the fun while Im
away...save some for me!!!

This sits on my desk and everyday I shake it up to find different shells I
like. My Dad sent to me and I just love it!! I have also realized that all
of my photos have been taken with my cellphone and I REALLY need to get a
real camera out.....the pics I'm submitting are awful!

I was supposed to start my 3 day hospital stay for the internal radiation
today......my blood counts were so low that it would have been extremely
dangerous to proceed. Instead I received 2 units of red blood cells. I can
not begin to express how much better I feel and how grateful I am to those
who donated this blood....to give me energy and oxygen to my organs.....to
give me some of my life back.

Today, in this office, I talked a woman out of suicide. I asked about her
life, learned about her pets and asked her why she wanted so badly to die. I
reminded her how much her cats needed her to feed and take care of them, how
much her cousin would grieve for her. I told her that her fears were normal
but make them her strengths instead.....take control of her feelings by by
believing that the reason she wanted to die was something that could be
beaten...with enough faith and courage.
It was a difficult conversation but by the time the mental health
professionals got here she was calm and feeling so much better.
I felt better as well.
The reason she wanted to die........she was just diagnosed with Cancer.

Posted on my blog this morning how I thought things were looking up. Went to
my Drs appt only to find that my blood counts have plummeted (really
low!!)...red and white. It explains the headaches, shortness of breath and
being so damn tired. They are talking transfusion for red and this
medication in the form of a shot for the white. I have to travel to a
hospital 45 min away at 8am tomorrow morning (then drive back to go to
work) and Sunday morning to get both so that I am hopefully well enough to
have the internal radiation on Monday as planned......*Cancer can kiss my
ass!!!!*

Woke up early today...5am.... and decided I felt well enough to take a walk
to one of my favorite places. This is where I am losing a Bass fishing
contest with The Boy. Its about a mile from the house and the fresh air was
wonderful.
While I was there I was thinking about the whole censorship/protecting
others thing that has been going on here and I realized that I censor my
blog to protect those I love from some of the hard truths about my cancer.
Here I don't feel the need to do that and I'm very thankful for that.
On my blog I'm more afraid of hurting the ones I love then I am of dying I
suppose.
I could never tell them the odds of me living longer then 5 years stands at
about 30-40%...
on the other hand I am confident that I AM in that 30-40% group.
I have too much to do and see and finish.....too much love to love and life
to live!!
And I NEED to win this damn fishing contest!!!

I check my insurance website pretty regularly just to make sure there
are not any bad charges etc.....I also do it to see what these Doctors
charge. Its insane. Prescription medicine prices blow my mind. This is
the charge for an anti-nausea drug that I am required to take. Don't
get me wrong....I think it works....but how do I really know?? I
haven't NOT taken it and this charge is for only 12 pills!!! My co-pay
was $35 and I thank my lucky stars my employer provided me with an
awesome insurance plan. I don't know how thrilled I am with the Gov.
getting involved in my health care.....I fear that it will take my
great plan and make it something less......
