The Girls love hanging their heads out of the truck window -- especially
when they get to share it.

Oh, look! One lightening bug is giving another one a piggyback ride. Well,
maybe not, but I'm going with that symbolism anyway. I love the way this
group of ladies has supported each other over the past year, letting each
other ride on our shoulders when needed. You gals are awesome. Thanks for
a great year!

It's the little things that mean the most to me. Like this unexpected note
on my vanity mirror.

We went to a season kick-off at our brand spanking new football stadium on
campus. Even though I got a couple of decent shots of the pristine stadium,
this pic of the sousaphones in the marching band took priority. I love
marching bands.

An Amish group bought one of the bigger orchards in this area fairly
recently. I'm still a bit taken aback when I see a horse-drawn buggy on a
major road in town.

The "Maine" feeder in the early morning. Cooler nights mean these little
creatures will be leaving us soon. I'll miss them big time.

My guy (and Katie) with his latest toy. This one has some POWER!

Linda 358/365

My guy's granddaughter-to-be (his daughter-in-law is 8 months pregnant).
I'm amazed at how clear the pictures are. The technology wasn't anywhere
near this advanced when I was pregnant with my daughter!

I actually got the thrill of holding a hummingbird in my hands (but didn't
get a pic; this shot is from the feeders today). A couple of them got into
the barn and couldn't get out, so my guy got one to cling to a net and
brought it out by the one of the feeders. It was quite tiny (probably a
baby) and panting hard. I picked it up and placed it on the feeder, but it
didn't feed. So I poured a couple of drops of lemonade on its beak (which
it drank) , and then it quickly flew off. I hope it survived.

After getting stung a couple of times, my guy found this large hornet nest
in one of the trees in the yard. The plan is to set it on fire at night
when they're all in it. I sure hope it works without his getting stung
again.

I passed a motorcycle safety class on campus. 95 degrees out, riding around
slowly on a hot asphalt parking lot in full sun, wearing jackets, jeans,
gloves and helmets? No thanks.

See that tree on the ground in my neighbor's yard? For the past 2 years (up
until this morning), it had been growing in the middle of the mums (lower
right corner) in MY yard .

It made it! While I was in Oregon, I bought this artwork for my guy's
birthday. The shipping service used by the place where I bought it was
already closed for the day at the time. We took it somewhere else and were
told it would cost at least $200 to pack and ship it. Yikes!!! So my
brother and I painstakingly packed it ourselves (multiple layers of bubble
wrap, extra padding on the corners, lots of styrofoam peanuts, two layers of
customized boxes, etc.), and he shipped it after I left early on a Monday.
My guy opened it today on his birthday and I was delighted to see that it
made it intact. Yes!

These little creatures fascinate me. I recently learned that they can
change colors based on their surroundings. Since this is one fairly dark,
I'm guessing it was recently located on the bark of a tree.

How does this happen? How does someone just lose a pair of strappy gold
shoes in a parking lot?

Linda 350/365

If I could just get this little guy to munch on ALL of the grass in the
yard, I wouldn't have to mow.

My daughter's father has a trail cam set up on his property and has been
getting some great wildlife shots. He emailed this one to me today and I
could have taken a picture of it on the computer monitor, but cheated a bit
and this is his actual photo. I think the camera is triggered by movement
in front of it. Love the spots and spindly legs on those two little fawns.

Rixi is the sweetest of the 6 German Shepherds I've had over the years, and
all because of a certain man. He has taught her to give wonderful
greetings, encouraged her to be affectionate, and spoiled her with love,
treats, and toys. That's one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for
me.

Some days it feels like my sanity is tattered and hanging in the balance --
just like this leaf.

Some of these wild turkeys look pretty hot. No doubt they are; the heat
wave going on here is stifling.
