An Amish group bought one of the bigger orchards in this area fairly recently. I'm still a bit taken aback when I see a horse-drawn buggy on a major road in town.
I got to ride in one of those when I was in college. My thesis was about the Amish so I got to "live" with them for a while (a weekend plus a few day visits). My thesis advisor knew a man who was a Mennonite preacher; his daughter converted to New Order Amish. That was how I got aquainted with them and stayed at her place. A unique & rare experience, for sure.

I am so intrigued by the Amish. I always visit their communities if I am ever near one.
Yeah, seeing a horse-drawn buggy where we live would be pretty interesting.
