Yep, another mole! Grrrr This time in the back yard. I have the trap set (second hole closest to the bottom of the picture). Hopefully I can get him before he does any more damage!
I trapped one in my back yard just a few days ago. I have better success putting the trap on the main tunnel rather than over the burrows. They may or may not go back to the burrows, but they reuse the main tunnel (the straight one). The tunnels that just weave around are foraging tunnels, and they probably won't reuse them. Good luck!
Linda this is his main tunnel. The burrows all have three holes inside of them Of course all leading different directions. this was the first hole I found that only had two holes. Since I put the trap down....there has been no activity from him in the back yard. The side yard is a different story.
I also smash down the burrows and tunnels JUST so I can tell where the activity is currently. Check it every hour (when possible). If I can't check that often, then I leave a flag or marker where I most recently saw activity. Get 'em!!!
I take my time and replace as much dirt back into the holes as possible. That seems to really piss him off. You are right though, within the hour he is back to work clearing the dirt out. Since the last time I did this he stopped coming around.....rather moved to the side of the house (don't mind him there so much). I am soaking my lawn for the next couple days in hopes it attracts the bugs..then the mole. Fingers crossed
