I think this picture is the third or fourth time it's snowed since I've been in SA (28 years or so). This picture is an old one taken two winters ago. I should probably have mentioned that in the caption. It's one of my catch-up pics (I fell behind a bit!), and my theme was to do catch-up pics of stuff that makes me smile. I LOVE it when it snows here because it's so unexpected - a real surprise gift from God.
@ Vixen: Yeah, the snow is gone by the afternoon. It was probably mid to end July. We don't get more than what you see on the gound there, and you can't do much with it in the way of snowballs or snowmen. Pretty though!
@ Mama Gretch: Nah, everyone just carries on like normal. The snow is so thin and "fragile" that it just melt when traffic of any sort connects with it! People take pictures though, and walk around smiling and stuff, and some try to have snowballs fights.
Like, it does snow a lot in the Drakensberg and Lesotho, which are places not TOO far away from us here - but snow in Joburg is rare.

Pretty!
Oh my. I don't even want to think about snow here yet. Especially after the ice storm we had in January! It is beautiful though.
Thats Amazing! I forget that any place other than Montreal and the Northeast gets Snow! Snow in Africa!
Wow...it's just September. Was the snow melted by the afternoon?
It's early spring there now... you must be pretty far south. Does everyone go nuts when it snows, the traffic and schools shutting down?
