These signs say 'No Edu-Care' and line the curbs outside the houses as we approach our kids' school. Every day, they ask what 'Edu-Care' means & why people are against it, but we keep forgetting to google it when we get home. I'm pretty sure that, whatever it is, I'll support it, though. I tend to support things that involve 'education' and 'care', especially if other people are so adamantly against them that they feel the need to line their property with signs that just say 'No', but don't really say much else or offer any positive alternatives.

As I drive past each day, I can hear Groucho Marx singing this song in my head:

I don’t know what they have to say,
It makes no difference anyway --
Whatever it is, I’m against it!
No matter what it is or who commenced it,
I’m against it.

Your proposition may be good
But let’s have one thing understood --
Whatever it is, I’m against it!
And even when you’ve changed it or condensed it,
I’m against it.

Yep, after emailing the pic last night, I looked it up :-) More on the local initiative here: http://educareofwestdupage.com/
(and there's more on the District 33 E-Board, but the link is way too long...)

So, I tried explaining it to the kids this morning & my lovely little humanist/socialist/hippie freaks couldn't even begin to understand why anyone would be against helping families & kids who needed our help.

And, during the conversation, 2nd-grade Annie added that it would be a good thing for everyone to help these kids now, because then they would grow up to get jobs and help others, instead of still having problems that we need to help them with.

Everyday when we drive passed those signs, Corey says..."When I grow up, my kids will go to Edu-Care!" He says it so adamantly, that it is so adorable.
