Almost a year ago, I was taking pictures of our plum tree that used to
stand here and subsequent captions spoke of my son's sadness when the tree fell over
& broke at the trunk,after it became too top-heavy with
unpicked fruit and the soil too wet from flooding rain. That tree had
stood there his whole life and he felt such a part of nature when
eating it's fruit. So, it was a wonderful surprise, today, when we
discovered plum tree foliage growing from the root structure that
still remained underground there. Oh, tentative joy! We're going to
do our best to nurse it along over the next few years until we can
enjoy it's fruit again.
