We had strong winds today which knocked a big branch down onto our camper
(no damage) and which also took out one of our oldest lilac bushes. It's
down on top of the doghouse, behind this suncatcher windchime. We really
should have trimmed the lilacs over the years, then it wouldn't have been
tall & spindly enough to get blown over. But, I liked letting them grow
tall, to scent the upstairs room when the window was open in the springtime,
too.

Lilac bushes are tough. You can basically trim the whole thing off at the base and they will spring out with new shoots in no time, growing back nice and thick.
Sorry about the lilacs - they are simply splendid - and will come back because they are so hardy. BTW, nice sun catcher.
lovely suncatcher!
