Cheat pic - Sterling Vineyards, Napa Valley, California, from a trip my Mom
and I took in 2007 to visit a potential grad school.
Earlier that day Mom told me she had an abnormal mammogram weeks before, but
didn't want to tell me sooner because of the trip. We found out a couple
days later that it was cancer. She had a double mastectomy right after I
graduated from college, chemo and more surgeries throughout the fall and
winter. Sometimes, even now, I want to weep when I think about it.
Feeling homesick lately, I guess.

Wow. Powerful story, beautiful picture. I've sat in those very chairs. You never what goes on when you see people talking in them. Hope your mom is doing better.
beautiful photo. hope your mom is doing much better - it's amazing what looking at an old photograph can invoke.
