Preschool paintings and body parts. This is a shot from my dining room table
tonight. My 4 year-old has this plastic dude that has all these body parts
that fit inside him - she's fascinated with the body and loves this guy. I
don't like to touch the guts/liver/kidneys, etc because they're really
jiggly and creepy feeling, but I really dig that she wants to learn about
her body. Here's a conversation from the kitchen tonight:
her: "Anne Marie says that your heart doesn't make blood"
me: "really?"
her: "yes. she says your heart helps you breathe"
me: "well, it pumps blood through your body, but your lungs are really what
help you breathe and get oxgen into your blood"
her: "that's not what Anne Marie says"
me: 'well, ok"
p.s. I thought the painting was of Elmo, but she told me it was a painting
of her ringing Christmas bells. I'm glad I asked her what it was instead of
just saying "Hey - great painting of Elmo!"

Oh, yeah. Of course it is her ringing Christmas bells. I see it.
