Emily and I are the subjects of my friend and teaching partners Dissertation
- She visits us to interview us and collect artifacts.
This is a picture she took of me showing her my stash of childrens books in
the basement. She was a bit stunned at the amount ( and quality) of my
collection.
This collection was cut by 3/4ths when we moved to Montreal, so what remains
is the Most special of the Special.

my curiousity is peaked -- what is the dissertation about exactly?

Her specialty is "crossover literature", so she is especially curious about how adults and children read the same text and/or why certain books move between adult and child readers. In our case we have talked about the Harry Potter books - as I bought them long before Em was old enough to read them. ( other books are the Narnia Series,Graveyard Book, Wrinkle in Time and The Lightening Thief)

Part of this "portrait" is the environment of the child/parent and their reading habits or things they place importance on.

Thanks -- that sounds like a really interesting topic. Neat that you will be 'subjects', and a little nerve-wracking too I would imagine!
