My 4 year-old has been very independent lately when it comes to choosing her
outfits. I strongly support her independence and our only rule for outfits
is that she cannot wear something that's dirty. This morning when she said
she wanted to wear her Christmas skirt, striped tights, and green shirt with
writing on it... I couldn't argue. It was, after all... clean.

I love the style choices of young children. One time, I saw a kid walking through a store wearing green and yellow rubber rain boots, with frogs on them, pink tights, a red gauzy skirt that one would dance ballet in, multicolored striped long sleeved top, and fairy wings. :)

Hell that's how my husband dresses the kids.

It's great that you let her dress herself without total censorship. It builds confidence. And she looks adorable. ;-)
