Four years ago today I started hiking the Appalachian Trail. It was an
amazing, challenging, incredible time. It was filled with people from all
walks of life, all ages. I did things i never thought I could do.. like hike
everyday for 3 months! My plan was to go for a month.. but i just could not
get off the trail. Life... when all you think about is water, food, shelter,
and walking.. everything tastes better, smells more, and is more funny! I
decided i could not leave the trail after almost 700 miles.. 6 days later i
was in the hospital septic.. hours from death with 103.8 fever going into
kidney failure.. the trail was over.. but the memories and the friends i
made are still here! I want to hike the PCT from Mexico to Canada! It's on
the list!!

Isn't there a John Muir trail from Mexico to Canada? I thought I'd heard of that one.

My BIL has hiked portions of the Appalachian Trail and enjoyed it thoroughly.

I read in Bill Bryson's 'A Walk in the Woods' there's a man who takes his 2 weeks vacation every year to hike the trail. He drives his bicycle up to where he'll stop that day, then drives back to his start point. When he gets to his bike, he rides back to the car and drives to the hotel where he and wife are staying.

So, he's going to have done the trail once on foot and once on bicycle. I love stories like that.

I'd love to hear more of your hiking adventures. :)
