We have a new family member! He's a year old, mostly lab, but probably with
some hound or setter mixed in. He's settling in while we try to figure out
what to name him. Really, I think he's a Blackie. This dog was eligible
for the "Sister's Fund" scholarship for black dogs. Apparently, they're
overlooked regularly, so there's a fund to offset the adoption costs.

Racism among dogs?
Happy new family member!
He's adorable and all legs! Name him Legs!
Yah, I love "Legs"....LOL
He is very black.........
How about Spade, or Tar....or Coal..
Ebony, for sure!
Oh yah, that's a good one!
How about Knight? He's a beauty! He does look like a colt with those legs. HEY! How about Colt? Bridget
I vote for Angus. :) Black Angus. And wow....is he really that skinny? I love how shiny he is. Congrats on ANGUS. :)
I'm thinking "Trouble". He looks quite mischievous to me!
Hey everyone! Yes, he really is that skinny. You can see his hip bones, feel all the bumps on this back bone and his ribs are REALLY defined when you feel his sides.
Scott decided to name him Peavey. Like the guitar/amp company. Now we have Gibson, after one guitar/amp company and Peavey, after another guitar amp company. It's funny that he doesn't own guitars from either company.
Hooray for the addition -- I love dogs, I love the name & SO love that you've rescued another lovely baby! He's adorable, and he looks very pleased to be in his new home!
Too cute! And I kinda love the name Peavey. Also, yes it's true that black dogs are often overlooked in shelters - it's left over from the superstition that black animals were "of the devil" and all that nonsense, although most would just tell you nowadays that black dogs look "scarier" than other colors. It's ridiculous either way!
Sheila, rescued dogs are always the best.
